Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is also an author. She's co-founder as well as director of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist, author, television personality and owner of the independently liberal online newspaper The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece she came to England in the year 16 and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. In her 21st year, she was the president of the famed debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student to hold this title. She was a conservative syndicated author after her graduation and when The Huffington Post launched a year following, she launched an online platform to voice opinions that included criticisms about political events. Her fame and popularity helped in getting several high-profile contributors to publish their thoughts on news, politics and other topics. Arianna became famous in 2003 after she decided to run as an independent in the California recall election to replace Governor Davis. Additionally, she led the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. Forbes identified her as being the 12th most influential female on the planet in 2009 and Guardian has also placed her on the Top 100 List of Media during the same year. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and she became president of the group of media. The acquisition included numerous AOL properties at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Parents were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. Konstantinos was a business advisor and journalist. Though she was close to her father, it was her bond with her mother that formed her entire life. In her early years, she exhibited her leadership qualities for which are still in high demand. At the age of 16 she began her study in the United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. She joined the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college in which she became the first woman to be elected the president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned an MA in Economics. She was a journalist television host, and columnist upon her graduation. Also, she appeared on an episode of Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books with editorial assistance from him.
